ALL YOU HAVE TO KNOW
HOW DO I GET THERE?
We choose remote locations but always near the ocean, fitting to our safe space philosophy. That is exactly why we loved this Dreamsea’s truly unique location, the Sri Lankan Beachfront Villa.
The nearest airport is Bandaranaike International Airport (Colombo – CMB), also known as Katunayake airport. From there, it's about a 2 hours ride. The easiest and fastest way is by taxi. You can take one at the airport or we organize transfers with Dreamsea at a cost of 70€ / way per car for up to 4 people. The address is 92 Galle Road, Ahangama, in front of the police station.
You can also take the train for a little bit of adventure from Colombo Fort. This is the cheapest way. It costs around 2€ and takes 3 hours. To get from CMB airport to Colombo fort you can go by bus for 1€. It takes about 45 minutes and departs every 30 minutes or by taxi for 10€.
A few weeks prior to the retreat, we will connect everyone to team up, so taxis can be shared.
Transfers will be paid on-site separately.

GETTING AROUND
The easiest and cheapest way to get around is by tuk-tuks, you can find them anywhere or just ask Dreamsea's reception to call one if you wish to go to any southern beaches or anywhere else.
You can also rent a scooter for a little bit more freedom. Dreamsea works with a company and will help you book one.
CURRENCY
Sri Lanka uses the Sri Lankan Rupee (LKR). The current exchange rate is around 360 LKR/ 1 EUR, but this fluctuates so check for updates. You’ll be able to withdraw cash at ATMs at the airport, in major cities and smaller towns such as Ahamgama, our home.
Although some places in Sri Lanka accept credit cards, you will need cash for many restaurants, shops, taxis, private drivers, and extra tours/activities.
Some hotels only accept payment in cash, even if booked online, so double check the fine print and bring enough cash to cover your accommodations; in case you are arriving a few days before or wish to stay longer after the retreat.
IS SRI LANKA SAFE ?
Sri Lanka is overall a very safe and peaceful country. We know the country has been facing a big crisis the past years and maybe will still face it for a while, but we are in contact with Dreamsea’s team and this is absolutely safe to go exploring the southwest coast. We fell in love with the people and culture here and believe you will too.
Just as you would anywhere else in the world, and especially in cities, just exercise general common sense in terms of safety.
