/The Fall of Grace

Jivamukti Yoga Sanctuary

in english

November 11th - November 18th, 2023

with Rebeca Recatero & Conor Byrnes

MALLORCA, BALEARIC ISLANDS

शक्तिपात

The śaktipāta is a transmission of spiritual power that both deeply humbles and enables, like a strong autumn rain it makes the ground both soft and fertile for the summer’s seeds to take root. Traditionally śaktipāta is described  as a falling of grace from Mother Nature (śakti) to us, the human practitioner.

As we transition from the warmer months and longer days to cooler months and longer nights, we utilize the momentum of descent to dive deep down into the root, into the heart of our being. Going back to our root, we find where strength is abundant and ease perpetually lies.

As we repeat mantra, as we sound conscious breath, as we move together in communion, the mysterious grace starts to move around us and then dives it roots deep into us. When we are available to Life, life starts to pulse more fully in us.

/The Teachers

Born in Madrid, growing up Rebeca heard of Yoga philosophy from her grandmother - a practitioner and teacher in the 80s - but it was only years later while living in Sydney, Australia that she first started studying yoga at the jivamukti school.

A heartfelt sense of wanting to dive deep into the teachings of yoga arose in the clarity and stillness that followed her first practice. She has been studying regularly with her teachers since and she feels forever grateful to our transformative method.

Her teachings come now as a reflection of her dedicated daily practice and detailed observation of the natural world. Rebeca is devoted to protecting animal rights and teaching about Yoga philosophy is her humble contribution to awakening our heart’s capacity for compassion towards all beings.

Her aspiration is to keep sharing the teachings as far and as deep as possible.

Conor, a Jivamukti Advanced  Certified teacher based in Paris, was raised in the United States and served two years in Senegal as a member of the United States Peace Corps. Conor’s love for yoga began at the age of 18 and it has been the great joy and guide. His teachers have instilled in him a deep belief in the transformative power of asana, meditation, pranayama and deep wisdom, as well as the expansion of compassion and insight through embodied experience.

Conor recently completed his Master’s studies in neuroscience at Humboldt Universität, Berlin. He aims to synthesize contemporary science and ancient spirituality by integrating them into the light of mindful practice. Conor continues his humanitarian work in Senegal and other developing countries with his non-profit organization Jango Project.

He has had the good fortune to study with many Jivamukti teachers namely Sharon Gannon, David Life, Yogeswari, Lady Ruth and his mentor Anja Kühnel. He has mentored the Jivamukti 300-hour teacher training in India and the 75-hour Jivamukti Spiritual Warrior teacher training at Jivamukti Paris with Ian Szydlowski-Alvarez.

/The Island

The Island offers a new way of living. A way in which we appreciate the details and connect with the authenticity of things. It may even evoke that feeling of nostalgia for somewhere you have never been.

Life on a rock seems to be different from life on the mainland. Here, in the middle of the Sea, we are inspired to listen to the call within, to set ourselves free, to become a little more playful, spontaneous, transcendental and raw.

There is something about the naturalness of the place, the desire to explore each corner of the cliffs, intimate encounters under the sea, going barefoot and losing track of time.

It has been a place of devotion for many people and cultures that have once settled. Mallorca holds a multitude of treasures and mysteries, many already discovered and others yet to be.

/The Hideaway

At Finca Son Sion, luxury and simplicity are inseparable, but its spirit stays simple and raw.

The thick stone walls, natural materials, arched ceilings, cozy communal spaces, tiered outdoor terraces, the pool… every last object and nook are creating the most beautiful environment. Moreover, the 150m2 Yoga hall will steal your hearts the minute you set foot on its blessed grounds.

The Finca is set in 30.000m2 of luscious and mesmerizing mediterranean gardens, surrounded by millennial olive groves, palm trees, citrus trees and so many beautiful plants and flowers.

The venue lies in the south of the Island, under the spacious sky, on an authentic land amidst the mountains and the mediterranean sea.
