Kurulu Bay
Kurulu Bay (Sinhalese for “bird island”) is a private sanctuary built around the existing. Overlooking Sri Lanka’s largest, and one of its most scenic lakes, Koggala Lake, and surrounded by lush greenery, every element has been carefully considered to offer space, privacy and tranquility, with an emphasis on health & wellbeing. Garden suites and cottages tucked away
on a private jungle estate; each with its own character and architectural style—designed to allow for a sense of intimacy with the surrounding nature. While the pre-existing Kurulu House merges a 1960 Florida architecture style and tropical Bawa modernism, the contemporary rooms and suites were designed by award winning international architects A00.

✘ Flights tickets, travel insurance, surfboard insurance, transportation to the venue and additional wellness treatments or activities are excluded in any of the prices below.
All damage or total destruction of the boards (crease, snap, etc) will imply the replacement with a new board. An extra board insurance of $10 USD per day is available upon request. However, we rather recommend checking your personal company insurance policy to cover any damages.
We choose remote locations but always near the ocean, fitting to our safe space philosophy. We organize transfers from Bandaranaike International Airport (Colombo – CMB) and will communicate all information on ‘How to get there’ by email.
Prior to the retreat, a WhatsApp group will be created to be able to connect with the collective and get to know each other a little before the start.

The Cottages
The cottages are scattered throughout the landscape, each with a slightly different character. While one of the cottages features a modern, contemporary design philosophy, an additional two cottages feature vernacular architectural design with half flat tiled roofs. All share direct views over the lake.

The Kurulu House
The Kurulu House is a beautifully designed house by renowned Sri Lankan architect Channa Daswatte, trained under Geoffrey Bawa. Merging 1960 Florida architecture style and tropical Bawa tradition, the house features a high ceilinged living space, envisioned to serve as a venue for wellness and art retreats. Throughout the space, traditional materials and elements are at play.
