THE ADDITIONS 

We believe we all deserve a life of joy, healing and connection, akin to the moments we share on our retreats.

We have included all Jivamukti Yoga practices, Yoga Nidra, Yin Yoga and philosophy sessions, heart realization breathwork, Satsang and the Kampung village tour. 

We offer additional traditional healing modalities at the Spa. From waterfall excursions and surfing lessons to ancestral craft workshops, we invite you to discover this collection of experiences and customize your retreat.

Take in breathtaking views atop hill climbs, or meander among prehistoric villages and picturesque rice paddy valleys on a winding descent. The reserve area can be explored through either guided hiking or biking excursions.

WAIKELO SAWA WATERFALL

Enjoy a short walk through the rice paddy terraces to Waikelo Sawa, where you’ll encounter an ancient tree, the centrepiece of the winding curves of this waterfall.

LAPOPU WATERFALL

The Lapopu waterfall descends from Matayangu waterfall over the surrounding rocks, revealing a beautiful natural pool enclosed within a small canyon. It’s a lovely spot to enjoy an undisturbed swim or simply relax and sunbathe.

MAROSI BEACH

Situated right next to Dassang beach and forming part of the reserve, Marosi beach is a beautiful stretch of coastline. 

Indulge in a snorkeling session, swim with horses, surf or catch the sunset.

A 2-min scooter ride from our resort and a 15-min walk along soft sands, Marosi offers a pleasant beach experience, best visited during low-mid tides.

WATUBELLA BEACH

A 10-min scooter ride down from the resort will take you to this uncrowded beach, where massive white rock formations surround the natural landscape. Explore and crawl inside the caves beneath the rocks.

KEREWE BEACH

A black sand beach located less than a 10-min scooter ride from our resort, Kerewe is a well-known destination on the island. Easily reached from the main road, it is famous for its waves and is a perfect sightseeing spot for visitors.

SURFING

Explore the many unspoiled waves and breaks that are waiting to be discovered. With three outstanding breaks just a short paddle away from the resort, and ten more a brief boat ride away, you will be able to surf the waves of Sumba to your heart’s content.

VILLAGE TOUR

Sumba is still steeped in the traditions of prehistoric burials despite exposure to Western culture. Through the resort’s close partnerships with the local ‘kampung’, we are privileged to get a glimpse into daily village life and witness sacred practices and ceremonies, expanding our awareness of Sumbanese culture — a truly unique and humbling experience.

IMMERSIVE IKAT TOUR & DYE CLASS

Guided by local dye artisans using hand-spun cotton and natural dyes made from roots, leaves, berries, bark and mud, you will witness how this lengthy artisanal process, which requires skill, precision, patience and creativity, brings to life a beautiful fabric unique to the archipelago. This ancient process creates natural tones reflecting nature.

Woven through the ikats are symbols and patterns that hold spiritual beliefs and ancestral wisdom woven into daily life. Your participation in this experience directly contributes to the welfare of local communities by supporting food security, healthcare, and education. All materials and equipment will be provided.

IMMERSIVE POTTERY CLASS

A pottery class offering the opportunity to experience an authentic way of creating ceramics used in

everyday lives within village culture. You will be provided with all the necessary equipment during the class and guided by skilled local artists as you work with traditional clay and pottery techniques.
