THE SANUBARI
Born from the Indonesian language, the word ‘Sanubari’ translates to ‘heart and soul’. The resort’s design represents an understated luxury found in seclusion, a serene and private haven enveloped by kilometers of pristine white sand beaches, rolling hills and rice paddies. In each of the Beachfront villas or Garden studios, the spirit of Sumba, a
long-lost island, lives on in the natural Sumbanese limestone rocks, exquisite handcrafted carvings, and Ikat weaving, while buffalos and Sandalwood horses wander freely through the surrounding landscape. This is an invitation for us to truly appreciate the gift of being in such remote, untouched nature.

We choose remote locations, always near the ocean, in keeping with our safe space philosophy. Only a 50-minute flight from Bali, the island of Sumba lies in the eastern part of Indonesia’s archipelago.

We will pick you up from Tambolaka Airport (TMC) and share all information on ‘How to Get There’ by email.
Prior to the retreat, a WhatsApp group will be created so you can connect with the collective and get to know each other a little before the retreat begins.
The Beachfront Two Bedroom Pool Villa
Nestled within the resort’s 100-hectare reserve, all Villas sit along the two kilometers of white sand beach. The minimalist design makes the most of the stunning location. Oversized windows draw the environment in, connecting the indoor and outdoor spaces. Premium materials, handcrafted furniture, and local artisan weavings and carvings set the tone.

Each villa features two separate bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, one main room with a bath and ocean views and a second bedroom with a shower and garden views, a shared living room, and a private swimming pool.

The Terra Water Initiative
By purchasing this retreat, you are contributing to the Terra Water Initiative through the donation of a water filter, bringing clean drinking water to the schools closest to the resort. Access to running water in Sumba is still very limited. Children often miss school to help with this daily chore, walking long distances twice a day to collect water, which must then be boiled for drinking and cooking.
