A BOON TO ALL THE CYCLES OF NATURE.

A boon to the ever-regenerating cycle of Nature —from the vibrant, flourishing driest season to the cleansing, rejuvenating monsoon, where things are mysteriously and ultimately being reformed into new life.

Just like Nature, Life is a series of cycles, a continuous unfolding Life-Death-Life pattern that possesses a strong power to carry us deeper into our beings. We learn to embrace the Life-Death-Life nature to better be able to create space for surprising births and welcome all necessary deaths. We learn to embrace the Life part of living as much as the Death part of living which is too often feared, rejected or misunderstood. And yet, unless we accept the dying and destruction from each passage of life, we cannot create enough space for new beginnings or rebirths to happen or initiations to commence. It is this ever-cycling pattern that permeates the universe and all existence.

We let go of one phase, one aspect of life (of love) and another one enters. Something dies for something else to be brought back. Something is chased away and surfaces another time, rebirths occurring over and over again.

The beauty of Kurulu Bay evokes a notion of infinite and timeless dimension, somewhere between dreams & reality. Here, we are invited to rediscover the wisdom of nature and its unhurried rhythm. The art of pausing, we all require.

We encounter a personal moment for each one of us and a precious life circle shared between all of us —balancing between togetherness and solitude, liveliness and stillness, vulnerability and joy.

A REFUGE.

Scented frangipani trees,

The symphony of jungle sounds,

A space of rest and repose.

Kurulu Bay is a precious hideout under jungle canopies, here on the teardrop island —redefining the conventional hotel stay through modest luxury and conscientious hospitality.

Kurulu Bay (Sinhalese for 'bird island') is a private sanctuary built around the existing. Overlooking Sri Lanka’s largest, and one of its most scenic lakes, Koggala Lake, and surrounded by lush greenery, every element has been carefully considered to offer space, privacy and tranquility, with an emphasis on health and wellbeing.

Commissioned to Shanghai based, award-winning architects A00, each suite allows for a sense of intimacy with nature while affording unparalleled views of the Koggala Lake. Spread throughout the undulating landscape exist 14 suites and cottages, each with its own character and architectural style.

The Tree Houses touch lightly onto the steep hillside, floating over the views, while the Cottages respect and evoke the vernacular to combine with modern design philosophies. The Garden Suites cascade down with the gentle landscape, a modern and minimalist statement nestled into the terrain.

An ode to nostalgia, Nature, the beauty of the island, the simplest moments, the stories woven and this awe-inspiring location..
