SEA OF NOW

Longboard & Yoga Retreat

December 15th - December 20th, 2026
with Vaimiti Teiefitu

KURULU BAY, AHANGAMA, SRI LANKA

An ode to nature, the ocean, the beauty of the island, the simplest moments, the stories woven & an awe-inspiring location.

Hosted by Retreats Collective and guided by Vaimiti Teiefitu, this retreat is rooted in movement, ritual, connection and the culture of longboarding, designed with depth, openness and intention for those wanting to deepen their relationship with longboarding in a meaningful way.

We  return  to Sri Lanka; a place where the contours of the land form a kind of sinewy poetry for days unfolding between longboarding sessions, yoga practices, shared meals, movement and moments of rest.

Scented frangipani trees, the symphony of jungle sounds, a space of rest and repose. The beauty of Kurulu Bay, home to the retreat, evokes a notion of infinite and timeless dimension, somewhere between dreams and reality. Here, we are invited to rediscover the wisdom of nature and its unhurried rhythm. The art of pausing, we all require.

KURULU BAY

A precious hideout under jungle canopies, on the teardrop island, redefining the conventional hotel stay through modest luxury and conscientious hospitality. Kurulu Bay (Sinhalese for “bird island”) is a private sanctuary built around the existing nature. Overlooking Sri Lanka’s most scenic lakes, Koggala Lake, and surrounded by lush greenery, every element has been carefully considered to offer space, privacy and tranquility, with an emphasis on health & wellbeing. The Tree Houses touch lightly onto

the steep hillside, floating over the views, while the Cottages respect and evoke the vernacular to combine with modern design philosophies. The Garden Suites cascade down with the gentle landscape, a modern and minimalist statement nestled into the terrain. The Shala, used as the open space for gathering and practicing yoga facing the sunset over the lake, gives an incredible feeling of calmness. This is an invitation for us to truly appreciate the gift of being in such surrounding Nature.

VAIMITI TEIEFITU

Born and raised in Tahiti, French Polynesia, Vaimiti Teiefitu grew up surrounded by the ocean and the slow rhythm of island life. Surfing became a natural extension of that environment, shaping the way she moves, travels and experiences the world.

Deeply curious and adventurous by nature, Vaimiti is driven by discovery — new cultures, new landscapes and new waves. Her approach to longboarding is rooted in fluidity, presence and intuition, shaped as much by her connection to the ocean as by the people and places encountered along the way.

For Vaimiti, everything is interconnected. The lessons learned through surfing continue to influence every aspect of her life, just as experiences beyond the ocean continue to shape her relationship with surfing. Longboarding has become a metaphor for balance, adaptability and the way she chooses to meet the world around her.
